Rick Update

Aug 11

This web log is for everyone to use in keeping track of Rick's condition. Please feel free to post comments, ask quesitons, or provided updated information. This is Carl, and I'll work on keeping the site current. Please include your name in any additions to the site.

We spent the afternnoon and evening with Rick in the hospital. Rick is in excellent spirits, and is determined to beat this thing. Sharon is in a state of shock, but has been outstanding in her support of Rick.

Rick underwent his second chemo treatment today. He is feeling great, and is not experiencing any negative side effects. Rick says he is not in any pain, and has not felt the effects of the cancer in any way.

We expect to take Rick home from the hospital this weekend. They are hydrating him now so that his body can eliminate any dead cells. The next chemo is scheduled for next Wednesday.

I'll keep this updated as often as possible.

Carl

Comment Thank you, RIck, for today's words. That's the best Sunday sermon I've heard in a long time. You really are a miracle. It shows what a tough old bird in the program can do! You and Sharon have been inspiring ever since I re-enrolled in the program eight years ago. I'm leaving on my sixth round-the-world trip tonight, with first stop Singapore, and the next day Vietnam for a two-week tour. I'll be in theh USA in May, and back to Europe in June. I wish you the very best, filled with more miracles. I will continue praying for you. Love to you and Sharon, Edna

Comment I am not a religion person but the BB tells me to be quick to see where the church people are right. I added Rick and Sharon to the 24/7 prayer vigil that the church has been maintaining for 100 years. “Prayer is the most effective method of renewal and transformation, because in prayer man associates with God and not with the problem.” –Catherine Ponder WELLSPRING By R. H. Grenville My life is fed at secret springs By quiet waters flowing From the eternal heart of things, Beyond my conscious knowing. I cannot bare their mystery Or mark upon a chart The avenues through which these streams Refresh the tired heart. I only know that when I thirst Or stumble in despair From wellsprings inexhaustible God hears and heeds my prayer. Our approach to prayer is affirmative, based on positive prayers and affirmations that have universal appeal. An affirmation is a simple statement of spiritual truth that calls forth a conscious recognition of our oneness with God. Focusing on these spiritual truths reinforces our awareness of God and all that God is. August’s Prayer and Affirmations from Daily Word Inner Peace In the quiet of my soul, I commune with God, and I am at peace. Guidance My thoughts, words, and actions are guided by God's wisdom and grace. Healing Divine life is expressing health and vitality through me now! AA Love, Sylvan

Comment Hello Carl: When I talked to you on the phone the other morning I was so intent on talking about the Agent Orange Form that I forget to tell you how grateful and blessed my sister and Rick are to have such dear friends as you and your wife Patty. Everyone has been wonderful and I just want to send my appreciation and prayers to all of you. There are angels, and I know you are watching over my sister and Rick. Gratefully Beverly Bennett-Maine

Comment Carl, Thanks for putting this website together and Sylvan I don't know you, but thank you for writing to Crystal, who forwarded all of this to me in the US. I was in Germany 1991-1997 and I too remember the meetings at Vogelweh and Ramstein. Are the Nancy and Rick you mentioned as being at the meeting, Nancy with red hair who I last saw in Santa Fe? Hugs and prayers, Barbara

Comment Thanks for the Blog Site Carl!! Sandy here, A friend from Rm 1034 from back in 1995-1998. Positive thoughts and prayers have been flowing towards both Rick and Sharon from the moment we got the news abt the cancer. My brother Rick has beat the Big C twice! So I know it can be done!!! And hey! Two Ricks -- somehow the connection of names and the superstitious/majical part of me says it means something! Sharon & Rick, know that you are loved by the Spirit of the Universe that Created both of you. Know that you have a wealth of friends whose energy of love is flowing towards you both to aid in the healing. And know that it is going to be alright NO MATTER WHAT IT FEELS LIKE NOW. Where is the cancer at so I can focus my energy in that direction. I know that sounds weird.. but it's how I pray and how I ask for healing to happen. With great love to you and to your wonderful friends and doctors who are helping you heal and become whole again.. Sandy and the Tracy Clan here at Offutt AFB, NE
