Good morning, everyone!

All is going well in the Squires household. Rick had a great day yesterday.

Rick's strength and balance improved significantly from the day before. He is moving around the house very well with his walker. He's been able to do things without assistance, which must be freeing after being restricted to a bed for such a long time. Rick took a bath pretty much unassisted, and stood up without using the walker for balance while shaving.

I think we pushed a little hard yesterday. Rick was up from 8:00 yesterday morning until 11:00 last night. We were outside quite a bit. Brother Larry came over to see Rick when we were sitting in the back yard. Rick & Nancy Sherman also came by. You should hear Rick and Rick swapping plumb wonderful stories!

Rick has had a couple of minor complaints since returning home. He has had a problem with ear pressure, but that appears to have cleared up overnight. He was also having some difficulty seeing because of glare from his glasses, but Sharon started him on eyedrops yesterday. That situation has improved this morning as well.

We're going to try this thing called "Easy Does It" today. Rick isn't very familiar with the term, but we're going to give it a shot.

Please keep the love and comments coming. I printed off all of the blog yesterday, and it really picked up Rick's spirits.

Carl

Comment 31 August 2005 Good morning Rick! Just thought we'd drop you a few lines before we turn into September. Not that that had anything to do with it. Ha! Sounds like your getting along fairly well now 'That you lost 40 pounds!', man your making me jealous! Very happy to hear that your spirits are high and that you are on the up and up. Will give Sharon a call to see if it is alright yet for me to stop by and see you. Our best to you and Sharon always. See ya later......... David J. Mazer & Family

Comment Hi Rick and Sharon, glad to hear spirits are up. A friend gave me Louise Hay's new version of "You can heal your life" Talks about healing cancer by getting rid of resentments. Interesting reading. Had my 23rd AA anniversary last week, that makes me the olf fart of our little Doha group. I would love to open my mouth and only say wise things, Not. It just seems as time goes on in sobriety, things just get a bit more real. Miss you guys, Will be over in December. love, Maria

Comment Hey there Dad- Now you told me in December after my surgery to take it slow and let Mom help me. Not to over do it and to "Easy Does It". Well, now it is your turn to take that advice. I am so glad that you are doing better. Mom tells me that you are getting around pretty well but don't push it. I know you like to get up and run but at this time remember the rest of us can only go so fast =).. I love you and Mom very much. Thanks again everyone for everything you are doing for my parents. As I stated before words can not express the gratitude and love I feel for all of you. God Bless Everyone....

Comment Hey guys, so happy to hear that things are looking better. I wish I could come out there, but I have no vacation time to come out there. Have had a rough couple of years with my health, taking all my vacation and sick days just to get the rest I need to keep working. I have been walking down memory lane reading all the comments. Karl and Patty are just wonderful people, great memories of them both. Mike is actually going back to meetings ever since Rick got sick. See how powerful you are?? Love you both lots, Gerdy
