Good evening, all! It has been a busy week..again. Despite the fact that we were by ourselves, we never the less has a full schedule of doctor's appointments and physcial therapy appointments for Rick. Rick says they worked him over this last time and were not nice to him at all. Part of that could possibly be that his therapist is an Air Force retiree and Rick called him a "prop head". Obviously, Rick still maintains his sense of "humor".

He was scheduled to have a CAT scan on Friday but he was supposed to take a barium sulfate mixture the night before that he neglected to do as I forgot to tell him. So the upshot of it all was that they had to cancel the CAT scan but it is rescheduled for tomorrow at 11:00. The good news is that we stopped by the Veterans Advocate Office at Madigan hospital and Mrs. Robby, the advocate, has filed for 100% disability fro Rick to the VA. She was a for real angel as far as I am concerned...helpful, kind, compassionate and thoroughly and highly competent. We are blessed.

Rick continues to improve on a daily basis. The memory is a bit loose at times but that is normal for the chemo. The fatigue is ongoing but he makes sure he gets a good night's sleep and then takes a nap in the afternoon. We were out shopping for exterior paint colors today so he got no nap. The plan is to have the house painted but the fall rain has started so who knows.

Tomorrow we are going down to Vancouver, WA to be with the girls, Connie and Chris. Their mother passed away on Saturday night so they flew in today from Kansas.. We plan on staying just a short time to lend emotional siupport as Rick has to be back at Madigan for a doctor's appointment on Wed.

Rick's progress is all good. We will know more after the CAT scan results are in..probably by the end of this week.

Please pray for a miracle. Visualize those cancer cells being eaten up and flushed out of his body.

Many thanks again for all the good thoughts and prayers. We appreciate it beyond measure.
Love,
Sharon

Comment Rich & Sharon, Lots of love on this BLOG… Lets see there is talk of you being absent minded, I knew it from the first time I met you; you were absolutely brilliant, then I met Sharon and figured out your success!!! A smart ass…. Not Rich, certainly not Rich!!! Not a smart thing calling a World Wrestling Federation Wrestler/Therapist a prop head, surely you must want your ass twisted into pretzel shapes. I also read where that new Court Nominee has no judicial experience, maybe ya'll played golf together, Rich did she ever work for you!!! NOW about this work to be done around the house (painting), I do think I read about you playing golf, you by any chance been praying for rain…. HA! HA! Sounds like the Rich I know so well. Was great talking to you this morning, even though it was short. Thanks for the info, was a little concerned... ensure her that her and little Richard are in our prayers… also tell Connie that the meal at Hulahanes was awesome (yes we take rain checks), we missed her and that we await their safe return. Walk in Peace my FRIENDS!!! Mik from the flat, windy, Kansas plains

Comment Hi guys, I am really impressed with Rick's progress, I guess God is not ready for his smart-ass. Mike and I are still praying and hoping that this cancer will just be a thing of the past some day. Mike had another nuclear test done on Friday, and we are hoping that it will turn out good. As for me, I have my own little battles, but I am grateful for my problems today, it could always be worse. Have a very happy day. Love you lots, Mike and Gerdy

Comment Good morning Rick and Sharon. Thanks for the updates. I'm so thrilled that all news is good. It seems that the prayers are helping. You two are in my thoughts and prayers so often. Every week at church I ask for special prayers for you, Rick. I figure there is no such thing as too many prayers, right? Everything is fine here in K.C. We're having summer temperatures again, with highs in the upper 80's and low 90's. I, personally, would prefer 70's; but I don't think it would be wise to complain too loudly. I might just be punished with an early winter. :-) I do enjoy cooler weather for my evening walks. Halloween will be here before we know it. We got our house all decorated, inside and out, for the season this past weekend. It is quite a process. It takes Steve and me several hours to accomplish the appropriately "spooky" look. I am so envious right now of Jane, because she is in Las Vegas visiting with Curt & Diana and Larry. I understand that Larry surprised them by driving to Vegas. She left me a voice message on our answering machine yesterday. She was so excited and happy. How I wish Steve and I could have gone as well. I do hope we can get out there perhaps next spring. Hopefully Jane will take lots of pictures. I'm so thrilled for her, but a little jealous at the same time. :-) Well, better stop jabbering now. I will be praying so diligently for good results from the CAT Scan. I send you both loads of love and smiles. Your Kansas City Cousin, Judi

Comment I have been checking the progress reports on a regular basis and praying for a miracle for my good and dear friend Rick. It is good to know that he has not lost his sense of humor. I would not worry have his been absent minded as he was experiencing that the entire time I was working with him at Ramstein. I will keep checking your updates and hope that Rick will keep on improving. All the best to both of you, Gene
